Q&A 008 — Responsibility

I feel tired of being responsible.

For work.
For money.
For family.
For mistakes I made long ago.

Sometimes I want to say,
“This isn’t my problem anymore.”

But I can’t.

What would an ossan think?

Ossan’s answer

An ossan understands this:

Responsibility is heavy
because it doesn’t end.

But responsibility is not punishment.

It is proof
that something is still in your hands.

Young people think responsibility means control.
An ossan knows it means limits.

You cannot fix everything.
You cannot carry everyone.

So an ossan chooses
what he is responsible for.

And what he is not.

He stops apologizing
for things he cannot change.

He takes responsibility
only for the next small action.

That is enough.

Responsibility does not disappear.

But it becomes lighter
when you stop pretending
you are stronger than you are.
