There’s a ramen shop everyone talks about.
It always has a line.
Some days I think,
“I should try it at least once.”
Other days,
just seeing the crowd makes me tired.
How do you decide
whether to line up or walk away?
Ossan’s answer:
I don’t decide based on ramen.
I decide based on what I need the meal to do.
If I’m looking for an experience—
something to mark the day,
something to remember—
I’ll wait.
The line becomes part of the story.
If I’m looking for recovery—
to sit, eat, and feel human again—
I won’t.
No bowl is good enough
to compensate for arriving already depleted.
This isn’t about patience
or toughness
or knowing “the good spots.”
It’s about honesty.
Some days, waiting feels fine.
Other days, it’s already too much.
Walking away isn’t missing out.
It’s choosing not to borrow energy
from tomorrow.
And that choice,
made quietly,
usually tastes better than hype.
