Q&A 103 — Why do small decisions drain me so much?

Question:

Lately, even small choices feel tiring.

What to eat.
What to text back.
What to prioritize first.

Nothing dramatic.

But by the end of the day,
I feel mentally used up.

Why?

Ossan’s answer:

An ossan once spent 12 minutes
deciding what to watch.

Twelve.

He didn’t even enjoy the show.

The exhaustion wasn’t about entertainment.

It was about micro-judgment.

Every choice says something.

If I pick this,
what does it mean?

Is this productive enough?
Relaxing enough?
Smart enough?

When everything becomes
a reflection of identity,
every choice feels loaded.

That’s tiring.

Try this experiment:

For one week,
make three things automatic.

Same breakfast.
Same gym day.
Same default answer to minor invites.

Watch what happens.

Your brain sighs.

Not because life got boring.

Because friction dropped.

You’re not tired from life.

You’re tired from evaluating life
all day long.

Sometimes the most intelligent decision
is deciding less.
